Chiropractors Help You Relieve Pain

By Dr. Curtis Martin • March 2nd, 2011

We have all experienced that five o’clock feeling that comes when we finally get up from our desk to gather our things and go home. The legs resist, the back is stiff and the neck and shoulders are sore. Looking around you, you can see that just about everyone is moving as slowly as you are on their way out. If you were to drop by a Concord chiropractic on the way home, you would have twice the energy tomorrow.

Those of us who work at jobs that do not require a tremendous amount of movement or physical activity feel that we should not have any physical problems caused by our work. This is a fallacy because it is actually not possible to not use your muscles unless you are asleep, and even then some muscles are working. Most of the problems from desk jobs come from overstressed muscles in our back shoulder and neck; they are keeping us upright and focused.

This is intuitively obvious to us after we have watched several sporting events on the weekend or watched a particularly long feature at a theater. The same thing is happening to us at our desk. The constant tiny corrections required to help us stay focused on the computer monitor or keyboard is tiring us out. Without giving these muscle a break, we are hurting them over time.

A chiropractor could explain that we can relieve a good portion of the discomfort by taking a break regularly and using that break to stretch the affected muscles and use others to give them some rest. This would allow them t recover somewhat and avoid them form thickening and losing their resilience. That is because the discipline of the chiropractic seeks to alleviate interference from our natural healing pathway.

The controlling agency for all the complex processes required for us to live a comfortable life and be well is the central nervous system. As long as it retains the ability to contact and control all the disparate but interrelated functions, we remain healthy. When something prevents this flow of information, we feel the result int he form of pain or illness.

When seek medical attention for pain or illness, we know that the approach to be used seeks to find out what is attacking our body, and then when we think we have found it, we either kill it or cut it out. The discipline of chiropractic looks at our ability to remain well as an innate intelligence that will prevail as long as it remains unfettered. The focus is on finding out how to clear whatever is in the way of our natural ability to heal, so we can fix ourselves.

The solution then is to identify the concern with the self healing mechanism and get it working correctly again. Most often, the spinal cord, housed within the flexible and sturdy vertebral column is impinged upon, often by the vertebra themselves.

These can usually be resolved through subluxation of the backbone, returning it to its rightful place, and relieving you of pain. To regain your natural health and strength, visit a chiropractor for a thorough checkup.
